We explored options of replacing the worst rooms, but when you have a 1700 sf house with 7 flooring types, it's hard to find a good place to stop replacing things that won't make the stopping point look even worse. We did some pricing and found that we were going to have a hard time making large scale changes happen, and had decided to just do a couple rooms.
Once Jeff's mom heard this, she jumped at the chance to have her grandbabies learn to walk on clean flooring and graciously offered to foot the bill. I guess you could say "we were floored" by the offer.
We made our color choices, set the date, moved everything out of the house and got a hotel room for a couple nights to make room for the carpet and tile installers. It was a crazy couple days but the results have proven to be well worth the effort.
Norah loves the texture of the carpet and rubs her hands and feet across it while smiling. Of course that makes us smile too. The added cushion of a new carpet and pad has made life much more comfortable for our little toddler. The frequency of her hurried crash landings cannot be changed, but the softer landings have resulted in fewer tears.
We are very thankful for the generosity of Jeff's parents. Now we just have a daily battle to protect the new floor from the little munchkin that loves to throw or wear her food.
