The family went on a road trip to Oklahoma this week for the wedding of our longtime friends Mike and Kelli. The kids were excited about the trip, but "Oklahoma" proved to be a mouthful for the little ones who continually asked when we were going to get to "Poka-hommus." We made very little effort to correct them since we found it so amusing.
The kids refused to sleep until we were a few minutes from the hotel, at which point both sprung to life and refused to sleep until 4am when Daddy had enough and told them they were going to sleep "NOW!" Everyone was tired the next day, but the kids were very resilient. We had a great time watching the wedding party dance down the aisle, then watched our kids run amok with all the other kids at the reception. Afterward we wandered around the OSU campus for a while with Grandma and Grandpa, then had some Hideaway Pizza, and enjoyed every calorie.
Both kids, Justin in particular, really enjoyed the friendly attitude of the locals and loved the courtesy of strangers actually smiling and responding to their queries, something often lacking in big city life back home where many people seem too busy to be bothered by children's questions and greetings.
