Today marked the beginning of a trend I'm certain will continue for the remainder of my life. I woke up, got on my running gear, and jogged 6 miles. I made the kids breakfast while I cooled down and Heather got ready for work. I needed to run a couple quick errands and didn't have time to change.
I was about to load the kids in the car when Norah looked at me, and realized I was still wearing my running gear. She frowned, pointed at me and said "Daddy! What you doing wearing those yucky clothes to the store? You put on clean clothes right now!" When I told her we had to go and I didn't have time, she sighed and said "Ugh, you making me crazy!"
This is the first time that I'm absolutely certain that my child has been publicly humiliated by my wardrobe choice. It may be the first, but I'm sure it won't be the last time. We're not even approaching the teen years yet.
When we got home, I showered and changed into a polo shirt and khaki shorts while the kids were "napping." When I got Norah out of her crib she smiled, took a step back, and looked me up and down with approval. Her voice climbed with excitement as she said "Daddy, you put on new shorts and a new shirt! Good job!" On the bright side, I guess I can be taught after all. In the meantime, we'll just save the following pictures (along with the many more that are sure to come) to prove that they can be pretty funny too.
