Today I took the babies to the museum to let them get out of the house. The week had started off with some beautiful weather, but we learned that the weekend was going to be pretty chilly so I knew it was now or never. We got off on the wrong foot when I accidentally ran over the stroller as we backed out of the garage. Only one wheel was damaged, but it was irreparable. We made it to the museum much later than I anticipated, but we still had plenty of time to wander around and enjoy ourselves.
Without a stroller and on my own with two very energetic toddlers made pictures out of the question. When we got there we changed up our routine and went to see some of the dinosaur bones, some stuffed bears, bison, deer and an alligator. Norah and Justin told the high school class touring the exhibit, that the animal they were looking at was an alligator (which the high school students thought was highly entertaining - and played along). They also thought it was really cute when both Norah and Justin started hissing when I asked them what a snake says.
After wandering through the exhibit halls we made our way over to the children's section where we picked eggs, planted seeds, milked a cow, played at the water table, crawled through an ant tunnel and drove a fire engine.
The sudden and very loud booming of thunder and flashes of lightning sent us running to the car earlier than I intended. We reached the car just as the skies opened up. The drive home was somewhat disconcerting as I could barely see the road ahead. Needless to say we had a great time but were glad to get home safe and sound.
