Norah and Justin like playing with all of their Christmas presents, but they don't always use them the way you might expect. Justin is fascinated by electronics because they have power buttons. He can find the power button on any piece of electronics, and it's generally the only button he cares about. When he turns on their new keyboard, Norah hears the toy's greeting, and quickly flies across the room to join the fun. By the time she plays a couple notes on the keyboard, Justin has tired of the concert and hits the power button again, initiating the enthusiastic goodbye recording "LET'S JAM AGAIN LATER!" which thoroughly infuriates Norah.
The microphone also creates some sibling controversy. I think our budding DJ's have a belief that whoever holds the microphone is in charge of the room. There are frequent disputes over "dibs on the mic" which result in it's telephone-like cord stretching to it's limits amidst growls and screeches of protest. It's ironic that Justin, who can barely talk, understands the use of the microphone, but Norah doesn't. He loves to make sounds into the microphone and hear his voice through the machine, but he rarely uses words. Norah typically holds the microphone in the middle of her chest and dances to the music. When prompted to sing, she just puts the microphone in her mouth like a clarinet.
They are both starting to understand using music as expression since the recent discovery that this toy has a record function. They are very enthusiastic about pushing keys and buttons and singing now that they can replay their creations! I just wish they had a more diverse song selection. The keyboard is capable of playing about 20 songs, but Norah only plays "The Wheels on the Bus."
