After weeks of unpredictable weather, we finally had a couple of days where it was decent enough to venture outside. Yesterday I took the babies to the neighborhood park to play on the playground. They had a wonderful time playing on the slides and swings and racing across the grass. They were so tired by the time we left that they didn't even protest! The best part of our time there was while climbing up the steps and through the tunnel to the slide, I would ask "do we dare go up this spooky old stair?" (quoting the Berenstein Bears book
The Spooky Old Tree) to which Norah would respond "Yes we dare!" and Justin would yell "Yep!"

Today I had a lot of chores to do around the house, and so decided to be responsible and not spend the whole day playing. Instead I took the babies outside to play in the backyard. We inherited a playhouse from our neighbors. The kids love it despite many missing pieces (they don't know the difference). Norah was thrilled to get to play in her house and kept inviting Justin in. They also started tearing out some renegade horsetail reed (the bane of Jeff's existence) that had made it's way to the fence from the pond and were "cooking" it.

They also spent a great deal of time talking to the puppies who are now kept in a separate part of the yard (so that the kids can play without stepping on "landmines"). It was a wonderful way to spend the early afternoon before lunch. The kids got to enjoy some fresh air, I got to scratch a couple of items off my to do list and everyone was in a good mood.
