The kids slept almost all the way there, and had a great time when we got to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Bedtime was a little rough. We had a full blown rebellion on our hands complete with loud and passionate protests from both kids. After a failed attempt to put the kids in separate rooms "So they wouldn't keep each other awake", we adjusted and put the playpens in our room. Evidently the location made no difference to them and the day of the playpen is over. Neither child accepted a playpen as a suitable resting place and both surprised us by scaling the walls of their mini-prisons and crawling into bed with us- where they also refused to sleep. It was a long night.
Saturday morning was much better and we were all happy campers, but it took a lot of coffee to partially revive me. This being only the second weekend visit in a full year, we decided to make the most of it and took full advantage of every minute. We made a trip to a local children's museum and the kids were in heaven. They weaved their way through hordes of kids and did their best to take in all the cool, new toys and gadgets. Grandma and Grandpa happily chased the kids with their cameras and Aunt Sara continued to enjoy her camera free interaction with her niece and nephew.
The kids were very disappointed when it was time to leave, but we placed them on our shoulders and chased a large gathering of pigeons. The flurry of feathers distracted them, and they were soon laughing and happy again.
