Christmas day began bright and early, but not too early. Jeff and I were actually up before the babies, and had made coffee/hot chocolate while we were waiting on them to wake up. Justin and Norah woke up about 10 and we let them play together in Justin's crib for a little bit. They both think it's hilarious to be together, Justin amused by Norah's antics, Norah amused by Justin paying attention to her. After letting them hang out for a bit, we took some pictures and then headed out into the living room to see what Santa had left. We pulled our chair over, closer to the tree and sat both of them down in it and handed them their stockings.
Norah quickly dug into hers and found all sorts of cooking utensils, a tooth brush and tooth paste. She was really excited about all of it, but especially the tooth brush. She started trying to "brush" the teeth of everyone within reach. Justin needed only a little bit of help with his, where he found a book, a toy truck, and a small stuffed Tigger which he immediately tried to eat! Both were curious about what the other had, but no fights ensued! Santa brought Jeff a much needed all weather jacket, and Heather a lovely cross to add to the cross wall.
We opened up a couple more gifts, Norah received her first Cabbage Patch doll, and Justin a toy Zebra truck (hard to explain but he loved it). We fixed breakfast, then went and got ready to head over to my brothers' apartment.
We got to the apartment about 1 and from there snacked on some very delicious snacks and homemade eggnog while we started opening presents. Norah received a princess Cozy Coupe which she sat in the majority of the day. She didn't like anyone trying to get into or share it with her. The two babies received a big play table to share, one that is big enough to grow with them, and will be perfect for meals, arts and crafts, and even homework one day. It's very similar to one my brothers and I had growing up and we loved it and spent many hours at it.
The day was a lot of fun, visiting with my family, opening gifts, and sharing stories. It's not often that we get to spend time together with everyone there, making the day even more special. Both babies received wonderful toys and clothes and Jeff and I received some wonderful gifts as well. Justin took an instant liking to opening presents and really had the process figured out. This year Norah was actually interested in opening presents too, but was content to spend the day in her car with her phone! We shared a big meal, lots of laughter, and of course the next Nerf war was planned as all the guys had been rearmed. At the end of the day we loaded up a very full car, two very sleepy babies, and headed home.
