Hey Missy!

Missy has been through a lot lately. Her lifelong companion is gone. It broke our hearts every time she eagerly looked around a door, and she's mercifully stopped looking for May. She's still going through treatments to knock out her heart worms and under strict orders for absolutely no exercise. Not a good combination for a notoriously rambunctious dog named "Mischief."

She has seen two improvements in her daily life though. Due to increased effort to spend time with her and the kid's being a more dog friendly age, she is getting a lot of love. Norah has really taken a shining to her and loves to pat her head and sweet talk to her. Justin is intrigued by Missy, but his favorite means of communication remains long distance. He particularly loves visiting her when she's locked in her kennel and can't lick him. He runs up to the front door, and yells "Hey MISSY!", followed by his version of sweet talk, a shrill screech of "How you doing?" I'm not certain that she really appreciates that kind of attention, but at least she tolerates it. We know Missy is not too keen on their other common interaction. Despite their improving relationship, he still tends to whack her on the head when she gets too close.

One thing is for certain, she is in love with the relative comfort of her own private air-conditioned room, vacationing from the searing 100 degree summer heat. The single paned windows and miserably leaky door don't do much to diminish heat gain, but at least it's not 100 degrees in there. 85 degrees really is like vacation and she's reluctant to go outside for any reason even at night without a relentless, obnoxiously loud, barking barrage of protest. For the sake of maintaining friendly terms with the neighbors, Missy has become an indoor dog for the most part. What a brat!
