20 Months

At 20 months Norah has started using "sentences" to communicate with us. She will talk constantly, and has begun putting words together. We of course are highly impressed with this new ability and get a kick out of listening to her talk to us.

She sings all the time, her favorite song is ABC, which is regularly merged with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and is still obsessed with Zoboomafoo.

We have started letting her sit at the play table to eat her breakfast and lunch and for the most part she will stay put. Since the chairs are sturdy enough, we will try to sit with her so that she isn't on her own. She enjoys the company and when we aren't fast enough to suit her, she will point to a chair and very clearly say "sit down"!

Norah has begun to really want to include Justin in everything she does and gives him kisses at random (without us asking her to). She will hold her hands up, close to her chest and say "hold, hold" when she wants to hold Justin. When I go to get her from her nap, I will take him with me, and she gets so excited to see him that she gives him several kisses right away as I carry both of them into the living room.

Bath time has become a struggle of the wills as Norah wants to stand the majority of the time, and we don't want her to slip and fall. We will tell her to sit down (it's pretty obvious what words/expressions she hears a lot) and she will stand up against the opposite side, hands behind her back, and start talking fast and furiously with a lot of nodding. It seems as though she is convinced that if she can just distract us enough, we'll let her get away with it! Which is why she has also learned some numbers. When we are warning her, we will begin to count to three, but she doesn't totally understand the consequences. I will say "one", to which she will respond "two, three, FIVE!". I'm not sure why four is so unpopular, but five is always emphatically stated.
