On May 31st, Jeff and I decided to take Norah on a brief walk to the park while she ate her lunch. She loves to play on the playground so we thought she would enjoy herself. Unfortunately, thanks to her very clumsy mother, we never even made it to the end of the street.
As we were walking my foot turned (not my ankle) and I stumbled. This actually happens with great regularity so it surprised all of us that I was not able to regain my balance. I'm wondering if my prominent tummy might have something to do with it! Jeff says I wobbled for about 10 feet, with a last second twist to avoid landing on my stomach, ending with an incredibly dramatic crash on the concrete sidewalk. I managed to scrape up both hands, my knee, my chin, hurt my fingers, neck and shoulders, and twisted my foot and ankle.
Much to Jeff's irritation, I didn't end up going to the doctor or even calling him. I was having no side effects that would have suggested that the baby had been injured and just didn't see the point. When we went in for my appointment with him, and told him what had happened (Jeff's such a tattle tale) he started to give me a very disapproving look. Until, that is, I informed him that I had had no contractions or bleeding, and the baby's movements didn't change. He looked over at Jeff and said "Well, you can't argue with that!"
I ended up going and getting x-rays done two weeks later as my foot was not only NOT improving but starting to feel worse. I really didn't want to go into labor and deliver with a cast on, so was relieved to hear that it was just a VERY bad sprain.
