My family was in town for Easter weekend, so we decided that instead of waiting for my shower we would open our presents from them while they were all here. They decorated the apartment, cooked a wonderful meal, and we enjoyed cake while opening presents. As usual with my family there was a great deal of noise and chaos, but we wouldn't have it any other way!Aside from the parents-to-be, Mom and Alyssa were definitely the most interested in the gift opening portion of the evening. Dad was still trying to recover from traveling with Matthew and Alyssa without support from Argentina. (Note: the above picture is not an optical illusion, and the picture was not posed, Dad was actually sitting) Patrick was trying to keep the younger two kids under control, not a task for the weak of spirit. Phillip and Russell were encouraging us to open the gifts as quickly as possible because they were missing a Stars game, which somehow held more appeal than watching us opening baby presents. The evening ended all too soon, but it was a great deal of fun!
We received many generous gifts and really appreciated everyone's efforts to make the day special, especially Mom's. Jeff however, is certain Mom is trying to exact some cruel form of revenge judging by the amount of gifts that make noise- in two languages no less. For some reason he spent the rest of the next day looking for small phillip's head screwdrivers and muttering something about batteries. All that being said, when he thought no one was looking, he could be found with a slight grin on his face, playing with the electronic noisemakers. The bi-lingual alphabet drum was a big hit. Perhaps he's just brushing up on the Spanish alphabet, that or he's just trying to run down the batteries. Mostly I think he's just picturing a little girl happily playing and learning.
