Overwhelming Sorrow

We cry out to you O Lord!
Our hearts are aching and our souls are weary,
for our Beloved is gone.
Resting in the safety and shelter of your arms.

We know that she is with you,
free from sorrow, free from pain.
You who have loved her since before time began.
You who knitted her together in her mother’s womb.

You who loved her for every right step she took,
and despite every wrong step.
You whose love for her is unending and unfailing.

A love divine.

We are selfish Lord, unwilling and unprepared to
live in a world without her in it.
But left with no choice but to move forward.

Still, the tears keep falling, and our hearts remain shattered,

our days darkened by grief.

We long to hear the music of her laughter,
and yearn for the light of her smile.
We are not ready to live in the silence
her absence brings.

O Lord, grant us refuge from our pain,
dry our tears and mend our hearts.
For this separation is only temporary, and there will come
A day when we will dwell together in Your house.

Lord grant us peace. Lord grant us hope.

Amen.
