Great Barbie Masacre of 2010

It's been a rough week with lots of planning, emotion, and work. Norah was in her room playing quietly. I knew she wasn't asleep, but it was so quiet that I figured she was simply reading her books or playing with her toys.

After nap time I walked into her room to discover that during her "rest time" she had gotten into some big bins stored in her closet that contain my Barbies that I've been collecting since I was a girl. I'm still not sure how she got the boxes out since the containers didn't even look like they had been disturbed, but she did. Three of them were opened to varying degrees.

Parisian Barbie was completely out of her box. Scottish Barbie was still in her box, but it had been torn open. Australian Barbie lost her head during Norah's attempt to extricate her from the box. Jeff thinks that it would have been more ironic if Parisian Barbie had been decapitated instead as a nod to the Revolution, but Norah hasn't taken History class yet. The decapitation was obviously unintentional and not a malicious vigilante act of class warfare.

I tried vary hard not to laugh or yell. I just walked out of the room, and headed to work, leaving Jeff to document and then clean up the carnage. Norah has since apologize profusely over and over again. I have to admit I find it more funny than not and have assured her repeatedly that it's all right, but to please not do it again.
