Naturally Playful

This year, a co-op of family members was formed to get a very special birthday present for the kids to share. They received a very cool playground with two swings and a slide big enough to accommodate them both.
Norah doesn't have much fun with most slides built for her age group since she is almost always half way down the slide as soon as she stretches her legs out. A lot of thought was put into this particular model which is not high enough to be dangerous, but at 5' long, it challenges them, and allows them to grow into it rather than out of it. We could hardly wait for it to arrive.

It arrived a few days after Norah's birthday, and a few days before Justin's. I started to put it together but had to stop when I got to the slide, for some reason I couldn't get it to attach. We were all disappointed and had to wait for Daddy to get home to help. When he arrived home from work he barely had time to change before he was ushered to the backyward in a wave of enthusiasm and put to work again (not that he minded).

We managed to get almost all of it assembled when Jeff realized that the factory bolts were too short, and the project was put on hold for the night. The next day, a quick trip to the store for longer bolts solved the problem, and we were finally able to attach the swings.

During a break in the assembly process, we deemed the slide portion to be safe, and let the kids play. They were thrilled and jumped up and down, sang and talked nonstop. When I showed them how to roll a toy car down the slide their squeals could be heard through the entire neighborhood. Much to my delight, Norah cried, "Mommy, I too happy!" It's the little things.

Once the swings were on, both kids were eager to try them out. We were surprised and excited by how well they did and pleased to see them already trying to propel themselves. Not long into her first attempt Norah fell off the swing backwards, but she jumped back on and kept going. They both really enjoy "swinging" by their tummies and giggled so hard it was impossible not to join in.
