The Big One

Over the last three years our we have not thrown a formal birthday. We celebrated both babies birthdays by quietly getting together with family, eating cupcakes, and opening gifts. This year we decided that since they were reaching a more mobile and interactive age, it would be fun to throw a small party to celebrate. We planned to have a couple of both kids' friends along with their parents, join us at the park in our neighborhood. It would be fun to let the kids wear themselves out on the playground, eat a light lunch, and have cupcakes.

As the days quickly approached the weather forecast showed temperatures climbing into the triple digits. At this point Dominika, a family friend that we mention quite often, offered her home and pool as an alternative venue for which we are very grateful. The pool makes the heat much more tolerable, and there's air conditioning and bathrooms inside.

A good time was had by all as everyone swam, ate and played. The kids loved their cupcakes but they especially loved playing with all their friends. We were once again reminded of how truly blessed we are to have been surrounded by family and friends as we celebrated Norah's 3rd birthday and Justin's 2nd.
