Disneyland

On June 2, we headed to Disneyland as no trip to California is complete without it. As most everyone knows I love Disneyland and have dreamed of taking my babies their since before they were born. The day started bright and early with breakfast and then a walk to the park. We did not stay on property, but this was perfect because the walk was just long enough to burn all the calories we were eating and just short enough that we could get there in a decent amount of time.

We took family pictures in front of the train station and Mickey Mouse's face as this is a tradition of ours. We met up with my brother Patrick's friend Tyler, a Cast Member at the park. He hooked us up with birthday buttons for Dad, Patrick and the babies, then it was time to hit the rides.

Our first ride was the Jungle Cruise, which was very exciting for all of us. Tyler's roommate is considered to be the best boat tour guide and generally hosts their VIP's. The boat driver narrates the tour, and a good pun maker really makes the trip (he has this down to an art form). After working some magic we received the VIP treatment and toured on his boat. Though they were too young to get the jokes and puns, Norah and Justin loved seeing all the animals and the water fall.

The next ride was Pirates of the Carribean which Norah absolutely hated and Justin tolerated (though he lost his plug overboard when he opened his mouth to point out an interesting pirate). I think Norah's dislike of this ride had more to do with the ominous sounding music, as she is VERY receptive to music and always has been, although Jeff thinks it had more to do with the very sudden drop in the dark at the very beginning. We find it truly funny that this is the only ride she still talks about, and will sing the song without any prompting from us! "Yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me!"

Before lunch we went through the Haunted Mansion, where Justin fell asleep and Norah cried. Let's see, spooky music in the dark- go figure. After lunch we went on the train and Winnie the Pooh. What cracked me up was as we were getting seated in the Winnie the Pooh ride, Justin put his hands up in the air! He definitely got my genes. We kept moving through the park hitting as many rides as possible, and were able to go on some of the faster rides by taking turns with my parents. Norah and Justin really enjoyed It's a Small World. Justin evidently has a thing for dancing girls. Norah's absolute favorite was the Carousel. I think she could have ridden it all day long. Justin was pretty much up for anything except Dumbo, where he surprised me by screaming the whole time!

The day was a long one and the only disappointment was that we were too early in the season for Fantasmic and their fireworks display, though it made for very short lines (which is a definite bonus). We headed back to the hotel with both babies sleeping soundly on our shoulders. We had so much fun!

The next day we met my Aunt Paula and Uncle Henry at California Adventure. This park has some amazing rides and we enjoyed all of them. The babies really liked the Monsters Inc. one and we had to get a picture with Mike and Sully before we left. For lunch we returned to Disneyland for a BBQ meal and show where Jessie and Woody from Toy Story came out to meet everyone. Norah liked Jessie from a distance, but overall was not thrilled by this up close. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Justin would have stayed with them if given the opportunity.

The two days we spent there were wonderful and we can't thank my parents enough for taking all of us. We plan on taking the kids back there when they are a little older.
