Day At the Museum

For their birthday, my parents gave Norah and Justin a year membership to the Museum of Nature and Science. This is an awesome gift for several reasons! The first being that we can go any time we want, for however long we want for a full year. Other than a little gas, we can bring a picnic lunch and pay nothing for a day of fun. It gets us out of the house, it requires no picking up like toys do and allows the babies to explore new surroundings in a safe, air conditioned environment.

I will admit to being a little nervous about taking Norah and Justin on my own, but knew that if I couldn't, the membership would be wasted. The night before I printed out directions, packed the diaper bag, and made a picnic lunch. That morning we took Jeff to the station, then headed back home for a quick nap, and then it was time to go!

We had a great time planting seeds, collecting eggs and vegetables, and milking a cow in their farm section (none of which are real but all cleverly put together). Then we went and played at the water table and with the musical instruments. We played on the fire truck slide for a while, then headed over to the backyard area where there is a small location set aside for just 0-2 year olds. I let Justin and Norah roam free as we were the only ones there, it's completely enclosed, and covered in mats. They kept busy for 30 minutes before we headed out to eat lunch.

By the time we left for home we had been there three hours and still hadn't done everything. Norah talked about it for the rest of the day. Justin was so worn out that we barely made it home before he was out! They took really great naps that afternoon and told Daddy all about it when he got home. The next day Norah wanted to go bye-bye so that she could go see the cows, pigs, dogs and more.
