Big Girl Bed

Today Norah's new mattress arrived right on schedule. The original plan had been for Jeff to take apart her bed and convert it once he got home. However, I realized that I was perfectly capable of starting the process (and was secretly hoping to complete it before he got home). Taking apart the toddler bed proved to be almost effortless and took very little time. Justin was fascinated by my actions and was underfoot from the start. Norah was too excited to stand still, and danced around the house giggling and asking lots of questions.

When it came to reassembling the bed, things quickly ground to a halt. I found all the parts before proceeding, ensuring that all were accounted for. But when I attempted to put everything together, it became apparent that it was NOT going to work. The hardware provided didn't fit at all. When Jeff got home he was pleased by my progress and just as frustrated as I was that the reassembly wasn't working. He came to the same conclusion I did: the hardware we had was not the hardware for this bed.

Fortunately, Justin's bed is the same one, so we took the hardware from his and used it instead. We contacted the company regarding replacement hardware for when we convert his bed. The hardware that came with his bed was correct, and by working together we were able to reassemble Norah's bed in under 15 minutes.

It takes up almost the entire room (when we bought it we did not anticipate the number of toys she would have) but she loves it. She can still play on it, around it, and even (to our surprise) under it. She proudly posed with it so we could take pictures, and even had Justin join her for a couple. We checked on her before going to bed, and discovered her curled up, sleeping soundly. Every day we are reminded that our little girl is growing up, and we consider ourselves blessed to get to share the journey with her.

Sweet Dreams Baby Girl. We love you.
