Spring Break Snowfall

Jeff and I decided that this year we were going to take a much needed family vacation to our timeshare. There are several locations available to us, but our favorite is a little less than 2 hours away, with lots of outdoor activities available to us. We always enjoyed going and missed not being able to take our full week in recent years.

We loaded up the kids and the car and headed off. My brothers joined us for the first few days and we were thrilled to have them. Unfortunately the bipolar spring weather brought a light blanket of snow accompanied by a bitterly cold wind the first morning of the trip. We all love snow, but hoped that it wouldn't last long as we had little in the way of winter weather clothing, and there's only so much to entertain two toddlers in a cabin, although the vacuum in the hall closet was a hit with Justin.

We decided to go exploring via the cars, and took a winding drive through the surrounding areas. The snow dusted landscape looked beautiful and we were surprised and delighted by the sight of 8 deer grazing at the side of the road, then saw two more later that evening across from our cabin. This activated Norah's imagination and she began telling us what animals she saw, including purple bunnies, baby elephants, etc.

The kids were thrilled to do something different and enjoyed the attention of their uncles. Justin was on a mission to find Uncle Patrick, and his constant inquiries made us all crazy. Norah and Justin repeatedly asked where he was, then started referring to Phillip and Russell as "Packirk", despite knowing exactly who they are (yes they can tell them apart). We constantly replied "He's at home, not here!"

The cold snap was mercifully short and we heard the snow sloughing off the trees and pelting the metal roof throughout the afternoon (thwarting the kids' naps) as the temperature rose into the high 50's.
