Norah

This month has been a big one for Norah in many different ways. When it comes to potty training we have some really great days where we reward her with lots of Nemo Snacks, and other days, well.....not so much! The trick seems to be letting her tell us when she has to go, and not asking her constantly. She's had a few accidents, but hates her panties being wet, so has begun to tell us more frequently that she has to go! Obviously she is learning and we are so proud of her!

Lately Norah has really become interested in dress up. She plays with her friends, and they dress up in night gowns and costumes, and accessorize with shoes, purses, and jewelry. Norah isn't picky though. She uses Jeff's t-shirts and anything she can scavenge from her closet that isn't currently in use. The only real problem with her fashion sense is she wants to wear dresses and it's barely above freezing outside right now. I have to talk her into wearing pants and a t-shirt under her so called "pretty dress" just to keep her from turning blue. Without question her clothing selection is unpredictable, and you never know what ensemble will appear next!

Playing dress up has prompted her to try to dress herself! It's pretty entertaining to watch but hard to believe too. It doesn't seem that long ago that she was a baby, completely reliant on us, and now she's picking out her own clothes and trying to dress herself.

As mentioned before, her imagination has really started to show itself, and she includes Justin in her adventures. Whether they are in "the jungle" or at the "doctor's office", something is always going on. Recently she started saying she or Justin needed to go to the doctor. Conversations like the following are no longer unusual.

Norah: Justin don't feel good.
Me: He doesn't? What's wrong?
Norah: He needs to see the doctor.
Then she will proceed to check Justin's ears, nose, and mouth, then tickle his tummy. Yay for good doctor experiences. I ran into our pediatrician not long after this started and related the story to her. She laughed and seemed quite pleased.

We are very excited that Norah knows and can identify circles, triangles and squares. She is able to count to 20 (though you have to pretend not to pay attention or she won't do it), she can sing most of the alphabet, and she knows all her primary and secondary colors!

The best part about this last month has been her new favorite question before leaving a room. Whether it's bedtime, nap time, or someone headed to work, she asks the question, "Where's my hug and kiss?" I always ask both babies this before I lay them down in their beds, and before I leave for work. It's nice to be on the receiving end of such a question, and I hope she continues to ask us long into the future!
