Today we took the kids to the Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Center. The wildlife center has several nature trails which, during this month, feature several anamatronic dinosaurs along the path. Since both babies love dinosaurs we anticipated a fun filled afternoon. The entire drive over Norah talked about going to see the dinosaurs, and constantly asked Justin if he wanted to see them too, to which he gave a firm and emphatic "Yah!" Much to our surprise the 6 ft to 12 ft roaring dinosaurs were really not what they anticipated.

We tried to show them that the dinosaurs weren't real, but the random arm movements, twitching eyes, and load roars didn't help our cause. We tried to pose them for pictures of them with the dinosaurs, but they were not fans of having their backs turned to giant roaring reptiles. Norah kept turning to keep them in sight, and Justin adopted the "they can't see you if you don't move theory" and sank further into his seat.

We finally found a statue made for climbing on and got both kids to go near it. While Norah was adamant about not getting on it, Justin decided he would give it a go. Once on the T-Rex's neck, he thought he was hot stuff, and started waving and saying hi to everyone as they passed by while victoriously konking the dino on the head with his fist. His bravado quickly vanished however, once we got back on the trail and found the 46ft T-Rex.

The museum also featured a few live animals, so we stopped by to see the raccoons, kangaroos, and other assorted creatures. Their favorite (and ours too) was the mongoose enclosure that featured 4 baby mongooses who were busy running, climbing, and biting each other. Both Jeff and I agreed that watching them was like watching Norah and Justin. They were incredibly active, into everything, and all over the place!

While the afternoon didn't go quite the way we planned, we all had a good time.
