Mother's Day 2009

I greatly appreciate all that Heather does as the Mother of our children, so I wanted her to really enjoy Mother's Day. If you closely examine what Heather truly enjoys in life you will quickly find that "things" are nice, but to Heather "time" is the most precious commodity. Her most special joy in life comes from uninterrupted family time at a special place. (There's a unique beauty to a gift you don't have to dust.)

After church we made a field trip to the local aquarium, which is a three story tall indoor Amazon rain forest. It ranges from tree canopy to river bottom and everything between. We both enjoyed watching the kids excitedly point at everything from monkeys to manatees and somehow managed to keep Norah out of the tanks despite her insistence that she should sit on the security rails. As expected, Norah's favorite element was the staircase, but she loved the fish and animals too. For Justin the best part of the day was getting to see the giant otters playing in the water. Our water baby's demeanor switched from laid back casual observation to enthusiastic ooh's and aah's as he was eye to eye with a new creature that loves splashing as much as he does.

After a couple hours of exploration we dodged the gift shop and called it a day. We piled back into the car with our tired, thirsty babies and headed home to enjoy a homemade Pastitso, which is Heather's absolute favorite. The entire day was a fun, relaxing, collection of Heather's favorites- spiritually, educationally and culinistically speaking.
