Today Jeff and I celebrated 7 years together. We have come a long way, and find that we continue to grow ever stronger together as a couple, as parents and as individuals. To make this year special we decided to take advantage of a free weekend at one of our timeshare locations and made a dream come true by bringing the babies with us.

Throughout our marriage, the cabin has been our escape from normalcy, providing an opportunity for time alone without the typical obligations of work or home. The slower pace always allowed us to talk through our thoughts and goals without distraction or interruption. Before we even had kids we viewed the timeshare as an investment for our kids and we always longed for the opportunity to take them out and show them new places. This first trip with both kids did not disappoint.

We made the 2 hour drive out there in a little under 4 hours as we made a wrong turn due in large part to "stupid directions" (it had been 5 years since we had been to this particular location), making Friday a pretty late evening. Despite (or perhaps because of) our late arrival, the babies were thrilled to arrive and ran/crawled up and down the hallways of the cabin laughing and giggling hysterically.

Saturday we took the babies to the newly built indoor water park. There were multiple slides of all types and heights, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a huge play area with water cannons/spouts and more. Norah wasn't too sure about this at first, since she genuinely hates being wet, but a couple trips up the stairs (her personal favorite) and down the water slide won her over and she was having a ball before we left. Justin enjoyed himself from the start and was unfazed by water splashing onto his face from various directions. This came as no shock as it has been well established that he is our "waterbaby".

We went back later that day after lunch and naps and had even more fun since Norah knew what to expect. For the remainder of the weekend, every subsequent drive or walk that passed within view of the waterpark led to a great deal of gestures and cries of "Shlide! Shlide!" On our way back to the room we stopped to play on the playground and by the time we were done all of us were worn out and everyone slept well.

One of the unexpected and unadvertised attractions of the cabins is the seemingly endless cornucopia of cats. They are skillful beggars and several cats came up the stairs, tails twitching, to visit us at the door. While potential allergies dictated we didn't get close enough to pet them, they were definitely a hit! That crazy shrieking sound in the video is coming from Justin. After this experience, Norah takes great delight in trying to lure cats with a sweet little call of "Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty!"
Sunday morning arrived all too quickly and we found ourselves having to pack everything up and head out the door. Before leaving however we drove out to the lake to the feed the ducks, though those birds couldn't have been less interested in our bread. Norah had fun chasing them, and Justin pointed to them very enthusiastically. The worst part of the day came while we were packing and Norah found her swimsuit. She brought it to us, saying "water slides, please?!" It nearly broke our hearts to have to tell her no. We will just have to make sure and visit more pools this summer instead.

It was a wonderful and relaxing trip, although we agreed it was way too short. I guess we will just have to get back for another weekend some time soon.
