10 Months

Justin's 10th month was one filled with major milestones. He is now crawling. Everywhere. Fast. He used to just scoot across the room, but now he uses one knee and the other foot to propel himself through the house. Apparently he dislikes the feeling of floor on both knees so he tries to avoid this situation at all costs. As I move from room to room trying to get things done he will now follow me, and as he turns the corner and spies me, will laugh or cry to get my attention and then crawl up to me.

Once next to me he will start to gently bump his head against my leg until I acknowledge him and pick him up. He is very playful and will "talk" the whole time. He is much happier now that he is more mobile, thus able to keep up with the rest of us. Though he still has issues with separation anxiety, they are radically reduced now that he can follow me around.

Now that he is able to keep up with his sister better, I find the two of them playing together much more frequently. They have become partners in crime, and I will often find that they are getting into the same thing. He also loves to play the "Aah!" game. If you say "Aah!" then he will mimic you, over and over and over. It's the first game (after peek-a-boo) he's really played with us, and it's really cute since he is very emphatic with his "Aah's!".

He has always been the more social of our children, but is even more so now that he is waving "hi" to everyone. He hasn't quite figured out what "bye" is so as long as you keep saying "hi" you are going to get some big waves out of him.

Justin has also decided that baby food really isn't his thing anymore and has moved on to pretty much everything else. He is much less picky than Norah ever was, and is delighted to try anything that we put in his mouth. So far he likes a wide variety of meats, vegetables, and fruits, as well as breads and pastas. He has also mastered the use of a straw, and will happily drink from one. He is still nursing every so often, but I have a feeling that is slowly coming to an end.

Perhaps the biggest development is that he is now pulling himself up into a standing position. It was shocking to see, but exciting too. We have recently lowered his crib a level so that he can't fall out, which was a surprise to both him and his sister.
