"Mmmmm...I can almost taste the turkey."

Justin really likes Grandma's turkey. He had his faced pressed up against the oven right up until it was time for it to come out.

Norah leaps for joy as Justin looks on. Yay! We found baby Jesus!

We decided to attend the family service on Christmas Eve since Norah and Justin are old enough to appreciate it. They learned the Christmas story over the past few weeks and Norah was particularly excited about "seeing" baby Jesus and talked excitedly about him on our way to church.

Norah really enjoyed seeing all the kids dressed up as angels, shepherds, wise men, Mary and Joseph. Justin was content to sit in our laps and cuddle as he watched the kids and listened to the songs. We were all greatly entertained as Mary, Joseph, and the donkey walked down the aisle, Norah exclaimed, "Look! An elephant! " and then proceeded to trumpet like an elephant! Later on during the service, Norah grabbed a Bible, and started looking through it. When Grandma asked her what she was looking at, she told her that it was a "magic" book. It was an entertaining service to say the least.

We came back to church for the 9:30 candlelight service and found that the kids had less patience the second time around. They were so rambunctious that we ended up in the "cry room" for the majority of the service, but the kids were overjoyed when a mother brought in her infant son. Norah and Justin both stood silently beside him and stared in amazement. We left the cry room to take Communion, as did the mother with her son. Afterward Norah was concerned and asked "Where did baby Jesus go?" We explained to her that the baby she had been playing with wasn't baby Jesus, but that we would go look at him after the service was over.

Norah was adamant that she wanted to see baby Jesus, so after the service we walked up to the nativity scene and talked about it with the kids. Norah was excited and jumped in the air. Unfortunately, she was somewhat disappointed because she thought we were going to see an actual baby and the wooden Jesus just wasn't what she had in mind.

It had been snowing earlier in the evening, so the drive home was a slow one to avoid sliding in ice. But we made it home safe and sound, dressed the kids in their new Christmas jammies, and put a cookie on a plate for Santa. Both babies were exhausted by the time we laid them down, but it was a wonderful day and we were excited as we anticipated Christmas morning.
