First Official Hair Cut

When Norah was born, she had a head full of very dark brown hair, so thick we couldn't see her scalp. As the months passed by it began to thin out, resembling a bad comb over. It finally got so bad that we decided to shave it off, allowing it to grow back all at once. It has grow down to her shoulders, and turned a light shade of brown, with lots of cute curls in the back.

I had been trimming her bangs myself to keep them out of her face (she refused to wear it up) but I was not doing a very good job of it with her constantly moving. I finally made the decision to get a professional involved and asked the woman who cuts mine if she could do Norah's as well. Jeff, Justin and Norah hung out while I got my cut and then it was Norah's turn.

Norah sat in a big girl chair, and while she turned her head every now and then, remained surprisingly still as Tauna cut her hair. She watched in the mirror as her bangs were trimmed and the back was evened out (I had never attempted the back before - much to everyone's relief). I was nervous that we would lose all the beautiful curls in the back, but to my delight they are still there, looking better than ever.

It was fun to get to watch her getting her hair cut, though I don't think Jeff and I are ready for so many changes all at once. The best part of the hair cut, other than how it makes her hair look great, is that now she will play "hair cut" every now and then. She will take whatever items she finds close at hand and run it through your hair to give you a hair cut. It's fun to watch and fun to experience a Norah-do, but we are going to try even harder to ensure that no sharp instruments find their way into her hands. She has never managed to do this before, but now would not be the time to let it happen!
