I think it is very well known that the first Thanksgiving was nothing like the images we see in paintings or children's story books. Jamestown was a small town barely hanging on. It's inhabitants struggling through a bleak winter after already being hit with famine, disease and death. Not a single family was spared some type of hardship. Yet despite and amidst all the loss, they found reasons to be thankful. Their efforts and their will to survive left behind a legacy that touched generations to come. Because of them, for one day in November each year, we sit and reflect on the blessings in our lives.
This year has been an amazing one, and we have never been so aware of all the things we are thankful for. We are thankful for our beautiful children, our loving families, our awesome friends, the roof over our heads, the jobs that pay the bills, the church we take comfort in, and especially for each other. We are blessed beyond measure, and knowing that is a blessing in and of itself.
Our wish for all of you is that you enjoy the gift of knowing all that you have to be thankful for!
Happy Thanksgiving!
