Out of the Mouths of Babes

Norah has expanded her vocabulary in dramatic fashion lately. She used to mostly say "Dadda" and "Momma", "yes", "yep", "this", "that", "what", "wow" and a wide range of joyful and outraged shrieks. She almost always concludes meals with "Allllll done." It was obvious that she understood more words than she said, but she has surpassed this and entered the parrot stage.

Animal noises are one of her most recent additions. She is prone to crawl into your lap with one of her favorite books and repeat the animal noises. She is doing well with "meow", "woof woof", and "moo," but ironically, despite being in the parrot stage, bird and pig noises seem to confound her.

Now that Norah has entered this developmental stage of her life we are even more careful in how we talk to her. We have always avoided "baby talking" to her, and have taken special care to pronounce words correctly when speaking to her. This way she is learning how words should be said, and any cute words that she comes up with on her own are unique to her! It's frightening how quick she picks up on things, but a lot of fun too.
