Six months for Norah was a huge time, full of changes and fun times. Jeff and I can hardly believe our eyes as we watch her grow. It seems like yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital, and yet we cannot really remember what it was like to not have her in our lives.
In the second to last week in December I took Norah in for her six month appointment where we discovered that she was 17.5 lbs (which places her in the 75% for weight) and 28" long (96% for height). The doctor was very pleased with her growth, and impressed by all of her new developments. Norah loves to pull herself up using people's hands, and is so close to crawling it's not even funny. She is also able to sit up on her own for long periods of time and can almost push herself up into a sitting position. We're pretty impressed with her too!
Later that day my sister declared that Norah had a tooth, but we didn't believe her until the next day, when sure enough we found not only one tooth, but the beginnings of another! By Christmas she had two front teeth.
She was also given the "okay" to start baby food and has decided that sweet potatoes are really her thing! Apparently they taste much better than regular cereal as she doesn't try to gag when she takes a bite....!
The day after Christmas my parents, three brothers, sister, Norah and I climbed into a van and headed out to see my relatives in California. We had a wonderful time doing it, and took lots of pictures while we were gone. Norah got to see everything from the Grand Canyon to the Pacific Ocean and seemed to really enjoy herself. It was great to see everyone, and to be able to introduce Norah to the family members who hadn't met her yet. By visiting so many people she really got to practice her "hi there" wave that she's been working on. I would recommend caution however, her wave is extremely enthusiastic, and can pack quite a punch if you aren't ready for it!
As for the baby on the way, things are really moving along there too. I have already felt the slightest fluttering of movement, and will be four months along before we know it!
