Artistic Inclinations

Norah showing off her picture of a ballerina princess.

The kids had dumped water from their buckets on Missy while outside earlier that day.  Norah recreated the event, only she showed the water coming from clouds instead of buckets - perhaps to shift the blame?

Norah with a self portrait.  The picture is depicting her wearing her flower necklace.

A princess.

This camel is walking on sand, and it's snowing too.  We're not sure why it's smiling!

This bird is eating bugs (the orange things) and is sticking it's tongue out.

The picture is from a small booklet that she received from Sunday school.

She decided to draw her little kitten in a formal dress.

After drawing the fruit basket, Norah asked Justin what he thought of her picture. He responded, "No, I don't like it." Her reply, "Don't ever say that to an artist."

She's definitely an artist.  Norah normally likes to draw princesses with elaborate gowns, long flowing hair, crowns, and sometimes holding a flower.  The level of detail that she has begun to add to her pictures is impressive.  We've enjoyed watching her branch out from princesses to grinning camels, hungry and sassy birds, or taking something and recreating it.  She is showing an aptitude for art.  She spends several hours each day drawing and coloring.  There are times throughout the day where she will suddenly stop what she's doing and announce that she has to go draw it.  Obviously we are extremely biased, but for a little girl of almost 5 years, we think her work is pretty impressive.
