Getting the Party Started

The kids, Jeff and I spent the day anxiously awaiting the arrival of Granny, Gramps, Ryder, Aunt Sara and George. The kids spent the majority of their afternoon watching out the windows for everyone's eagerly anticipated arrival. When they pulled up to the house, the kids (decked out in their summer hats) ran out to greet them. Their over-excitement made it difficult to talk them into coming back inside the house as suddenly leaping over rocks, running around the garden, and playing with Ryder in the grass were MUCH more interesting.

We decided to let the kids open their birthday presents from Granny, Gramps, Ryder and Aunt Sara before the party. We were given the heads up that their gifts were aquatic in nature and perfect for the pool party. The kids loved opening their presents of swim suits, cover ups, towels and pool toys. They enjoyed seeing their gifts Aunt Sara picked up for them in Hawaii (though Norah stubbornly refused to try on her dress till after everyone left).
