You're My Boy Blue!

It's amazing how differently this pregnancy has been compared to the last one. Norah was difficult to get a bead on. She moved constantly while snuggling with crossed arms and legs not giving a very clear view of her face or anything else. Norah's movements in-utero seem to have visibly carried over after her birth as the kid just never stops, yet loves to snuggle more than anything else.

It may be a little early to discern longterm personality traits in our second baby, but if today is any kind of indication, things are going to be very different. It took almost no time to tell that this indeed is very obviously a boy. Our baby seems very laid back, and pretty free and easy with his business- none of that crossed leg stuff happening here. While he moved quite a bit, he didn't squirm nearly as much as Norah did. Despite the fact that he held very still and allowed us to see practically every bone and organ in his body, he proved slightly more difficult to capture in pictures.

It's amazing how many things you can verify with an ultrasound, and how many concerns can be erased. You could easily see his 4 chambered heart beating at a healthy and steady 162 beats per minute. His brain is well shaped and sized. We could see his liver, bladder, kidneys and stomach. His backbone was very clear and well defined throughout the ultrasound. We were able to see that his height and weight are right where they are supposed to be and were able to count all 8 fingers and 2 thumbs.

Although we would have equally loved having another girl, we are ecstatic to find out we are having a little boy and will have one of each. It appears we have been blessed again with exactly what we wished for- a healthy baby. The doctor says that you can never fully guarantee a gender based on a ultrasound, but "Unless something pretty significant decides to fall off, you're having a boy!"
