8 Months Old!

Norah has turned 8 months old and has added two more teeth, giving her a total of 5. We anticipated the top front teeth, but she had other ideas and produced one tooth on each side instead. She kinda does her own thing and doesn't like being told what to do, just like Daddy.

She has also added some new sounds to her repertoire. The short list includes:

aaah! (Spoken with rising inflection, used specifically to get Dad's attention)
ba ba ba
da da da
mum mu mah
nah-nah-nah (Stated with a pitiful tone, used to generate pity for her plight)
ubp ubp ubp

She used to only make cute little monkey-like noises, but with the onset of her first cold she required more expressive vernacular. Now there is a shrieking angry monkey sound and on special occasions she will emit the snarls, grunts and hisses of a very miffed baby dragon. You can almost picture smoke, flames and flashing eyes- you don't have to imagine the sharp teeth, they're already there.

She is also taking a great deal of delight in her mobility. She has figured out that she can leave one room and enter the next without help and laughs as she does so! She is full of mischief and is curious about everything. She can be in a room for less then 2 minutes and locate and try to devour every item you want her to avoid. Power cords, trash cans, plastic bags, plants, boxes, books, electronics, you name it. Of course our house isn't child-proofed yet so it has proven to be quite a challenge for Jeff and me to keep up with her.

So basically she's a typical kid, happily and rapidly getting into absolutely everything.
