Six Years Ago

On March 24, 2001 Jeff and I went to the Dallas Arboretum on a date. The day was overcast and rainy leaving the Arboretum virtually empty. We strolled down the empty pathways, at times huddled together under an umbrella, enjoying the beauty and peace that the gardens had to offer. I think we may have seen a total of ten other people at most the entire time we were there, so we truly felt as though we had it all to ourselves. By the time we got to the Women's Garden (pictured above) the rain had stopped. We strolled through it and when we reached the Infinity Pool (next to the two arches) we paused to take in the view. This pool is a zero edge pool that looks out onto White Rock Lake, allowing two separate bodies of water to appear as one. At that point, Jeff knelt down and proposed to me.

Six years later we are expecting our first child, and can't wait to share our love of the Arboretum with her!
