Breakfast with Santa 2011

It has become a tradition for us to attend our church's annual "Breakfast with Santa" fundraiser. It's a great deal. The money goes toward a scholarship for local kids, we get to eat as many pancakes and sausages as we want, and the kids have games and storytelling to keep them entertained until it's time to see Santa.

When it was time for us to head upstairs to see him, Norah grabbed my hand and with great determination and speed, pulled me up the stairs as fast as she could go. I could barely keep up, and we left Justin and Daddy in the dust. The elves met us and helped the kids put together their lists for Santa. Justin wanted a "green glowing light saber that glows in the dark" to fight the real "Darf Fader". It seems that this is the only thing he wants this year. The elf jotted down his request for Santa, and asked what else he wanted. Justin said "ummmmm", but didn't really answer. Daddy whispered something into Justin's ear, prompting him to say "and a Red rider BB gun", to which the elf responded, "You'll shoot your eye out kid."

Norah said she really wanted a Barbie doll. Surprisingly she doesn't want anything in particular.

They both seem to have an item or type of items that really excite them, and they seem satisfied with that. Naturally that all changes when we near a toy store, watch commercials, or peruse a catalog, but their consistently short list seems very telling.
