One of Norah's favorite games to is playing chase with her daddy. As soon as she hears him say, "I'm...going...toooo... get the baby!", her eyes light up, her smile takes up her entire face, and she runs for her life. I am usually the one she runs to, and she will basically climb up my arm like a little monkey, then whips her head around to locate daddy. She's not the least bit afraid, but runs with the same desperation caused by the appearance of the vacuum. By the time they are done everyone is out of breath from laughing!
An unexpected consequence of this game is that Norah cannot always tell when the game has started or finished. Several times per day Norah will misconstrue Jeff's movements and scramble across the room, wildly weaving and careening off furniture trying to reach my arms. There have been occasions where Jeff was merely walking behind her, turning his head, or saying her name and she was off and running, laughing all the way!
The funniest occasions are when I'm not around and she has to weigh her options for escape. Sometimes she tries unsuccessfully to climb the furniture, and at other times she has to decide who in the room she trusts to pick her up. It's hard for her to decide if she would rather climb the furniture or run to one of her uncles. The real puzzler is when she decides she has to rescue one of her toys before escaping. She will duck down and grab her bunny or blanket, losing valuable time before starting her mad scramble. At least she's thinking of others.
Who needs to go out when there is plenty of entertainment at home?!
