A Heartfelt Thank You

A couple days after Norah was born, my mom, brother and sister flew in from Argentina to help us out. I could not have asked for a better experience. After flying internationally for more than ten hours, they came to the house for a brief visit, then sent us off to nap. When Norah and I got up, they were already gone, but had vacuumed the house, run and emptied the dish washer, cleaned the kitchen and dusted the house. There was also a multiple course dinner prepared for us so that we wouldn't have to worry about fixing anything that evening.

Mom was great about giving us space to spend time getting to know and experience our new family, but she was also wonderful about getting sweet Norah and I out of the house. We would spend the day together, either out running errands or with her cleaning house while I took care of Norah. Then in the evening she would make sure dinner was ready and then leave before Jeff got home so that we had time together. Other nights we would head over to my brothers' apartment to hang out and enjoy being with the family.

She was especially helpful when we started dealing with Norah's lactose intolerance and acid reflux issues. She stayed the night and helped us through a very difficult time. Jeff and I both agree that we would could not have done it without her. She has proved that not only is she a wonderful mother, but an awesome grandmother as well!

When Dad came he helped Jeff put together both the high chair and the play pen, and helped us with meals, cleaning, and of course with Norah (he's proven to be very good at getting burps out of her). On the morning that all our family was due to arrive in from California, he helped bathe her so that I could finish getting ready. He is an awesome grandpa!

Mom and Dad also watched Norah so that Jeff and I could go on our first date since we had her. We headed to the movies to see the new Harry Potter film. It was hard to leave her at home, but at the same time we knew she was in very good hands, and ended up having a great time.

Words cannot fully describe how much we appreciated all of their help, and how much we will all miss them while they are gone. It was very difficult to see them head back to Argentina but we are already making plans to enjoy their time with us the next time they visit.
