After work last Friday, I went home and laid down on the couch to nap before heading out to dinner. I awoke when Jeff came home, so he sat down next to me and we started talking. About that time our little girl woke up from her nap too.
As a mother, I am privileged with the connection formed through movement. Jeff says I smile every time I feel our baby move about, but she isn't big enough to make a movement strong enough for Jeff to feel it yet. Hopefully that moment is close at hand. I let him know every time I feel her move and he puts his hand on my belly in the hopes of feeling a little kick or twirl.
Despite the fact that she was moving quite energetically directly beneath his hand, he was still not able to feel her move. He pushed down a little harder in hopes that he would feel something. Either she doesn't like to be pushed around, or she was trying to respond because every time he would push down, she would push back. This went on for almost ten minutes before she either got bored and decided to ignore him, or she wore herself out and went back to sleep.
Interacting with her before she her birth has been an amazing experience, but I can't wait until Jeff can share a physical connection.
