On October 4th I went in for a beta hcg test to determine the levels of hcg (the pregnancy hormone) in my system (it had to be over 25 to be considered a viable pregnancy).
We were incredibly relieved when the number came back at a beautiful 140!! The initial number had to double to at least 280 by the 6th or we would most likely end up having yet another miscarriage. Much to our delight, it went up to 304!! We were elated!
On October 26th we went in for our first sonogram. The picture above was our first look at our baby, at 7 weeks 0 days (7w0d).
Our baby measured in at 9.7 mm in length (measured between the white plus signs), which the doctor said is a little bit ahead of schedule. The heart was beating at 140 bpm, right in the middle of the desired 130- 150 range. After going through so much, it was an indescribable feeling to see that flickering heartbeat on the screen, and to hear the doctors tell us everything looked great. It took our breath away!
I think it was love at first sight for both Jeff and me!
